Translation and Interpretation in Psalm 8:5

Drew at Truth and Repose has posted on the sometimes slippery distinction between translation and interpretation, looking in detail at Psalm 8:5 (“What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor” [emphasis added]).

The post touches not only on the internal evidence for certain translations of this verse but also how to translate a passage in the light of New Testament interpretation.

ESV Hyper-Concordance Released

Sean at SemanticBible has released a new version of his Hyper-Concordance, which adds links to most of the words in the New Testament. For example, here’s the page for gnashing:

Verses containing ‘gnashing,’ with other words linked

You can also use tag-cloud-style navigation to find the word you want:

New Testament words starting with ‘G’ arranged alphabetically and using size to illustrate frequency

Sean also has a blog post about the Hyper-Concordance and another that discusses the most popular words on it.

Separately, he’s created a gadget to show you a verse of the day on your customized Google homepage.
