Trackback Thursday – Family Driven Faith

9781581349290Trackback Thursday this week features Voddie Baucham’s Family Driven Faith.

“There are many worthwhile pursuits in this world, but few of them rise to the level of training our children to follow the Lord and keep His commandments. I desperately want my sons and daughters to walk with God, and I am willing to do whatever it takes, whatever the Bible says I must do in order to be used by God as a means to that end. My prayer for you is that God would awaken in you that same passion. Something tells me He already has.” (Family Driven Faith, pp 29).

More teens are turning away from the faith than ever before: it is estimated that 75 to 88% of Christian teens walk away from Christianity by the end of their freshman year of college. Something must be done. Baucham equips Christian parents with the tools they need to raise children biblically in a post-Christian, anti-family society.

Warnock on “Raised with Christ” and How You Can Help Authors

Adrian Warnock is finishing up final edits on his upcoming Crossway title, Raised with Christ: How the Resurrection Changes Everything.

Here’s a brief taste:

Jesus’ resurrection really did change everything. It changed the cross from a tragedy into a a triumph and it changed the Roman Empire into a Christian state. This was the most powerful divine event in the history of creation, and it ushered in a new age of the Holy Spirit’s activity and power in saving and transforming lives.

When considering if Christianity is true, it all boils down to whether Jesus rose from the dead. The lives of Christians today demonstrate that the resurrection is still changing people…

(Raised with Christ, pp 15)

Visit Adrian’s blog for more on this forthcoming book; he also recently shared tips on how you can help get the word out about authors and books you believe people really should read. Books like Raised with Christ, we would say!

The ESV Online Study Bible

For those who haven’t yet tried the ESV Online Study Bible, here’s an excellent preview and tutorial. We first linked to this in March. Jacob Abshire shows how the online component can add more to your study experience with functions such as highlighting, copy/paste, extensive space for personalized notes, and the ability to print notes and Scripture into a document format.

Here’s Jacob’s video, or you can test drive the Online Study Bible yourself:

Putting God’s Word in People’s Hands this Christmas

We’ve seen that it’s true over and over—the Word of God does the work of God. God uses the preaching of his Word and the reading of his Word to draw people to himself. With this in mind, we wondered, Could we put together an attractive gift bag that included a quality Bible, a presentation of the gospel, and an invitation to Christmas services at a local church—all at an affordable price that made it possible for churches to distribute hundreds of these bags?

And that is what we’ve done. In fact, early indicators suggest churches around the country will distribute at least one million of these gift bags to friends and neighbors this Christmas!

Crossway’s Share the Good News of Christmas gift bags include an ESV Outreach New Testament, a Christmas tract written by Max Lucado, a gift card featuring 30 days of free access to the ESV Online Study Bible, and a customizable invitation to a Christmas service or a special event at a church.

Visit www.goodnewsofchristmas.org or contact your local Christian retail store to learn more about how your church can use these attractive gift bags to help share the good news this Christmas. Then get your Sunday School class, your choir, or your whole church involved in sharing the Good News this Christmas!
