When Janet Conrad, manager of By the Book in Edmond, Oklahoma, picked up a Share the Good News of Christmas gift bag at the International Christian Retail Show in July, she had the sense that it was a perfect fit for Henderson Hills Baptist Church. The church does a huge program every year before Christmas, during which they always give something away. “The pastor consistently recommends the ESV from the pulpit and has asked our bookstore to make sure we are well stocked with the ESV Study Bible,” said Conrad. “I knew this would be perfect for publicizing their Christmas program.”
But even though she saw the potential in the packet, she was still a little surprised when one of the pastors called her to say, “Thank you for bringing this to us. We think we’re going to need 5,000 of them.”
Recently, 101 cases of Share the Good News of Christmas gift bags arrived. According to Connie Goodson, Worship and Arts Director of Henderson Hills Baptist Church, the church plans to make the bags available to the church family immediately following Thanksgiving. They plan to share these with co-workers, neighbors, family, and friends to invite them to the church’s three-night Christmas production, weekend church services, and Christmas Eve services.
“The Share the Good News of Christmas gift bags are an ideal package,” added Conrad, “perfect in that they put the Word of God, as well as a tract by Max Lucado that gives the gospel, into the hands of people while also inviting them to come to a Christmas event to hear the gospel proclaimed.”
