Trackback Thursday - Family Driven Faith

9781581349290Trackback Thursday this week features Voddie Baucham’s Family Driven Faith.

“There are many worthwhile pursuits in this world, but few of them rise to the level of training our children to follow the Lord and keep His commandments. I desperately want my sons and daughters to walk with God, and I am willing to do whatever it takes, whatever the Bible says I must do in order to be used by God as a means to that end. My prayer for you is that God would awaken in you that same passion. Something tells me He already has.” (Family Driven Faith, pp 29).

More teens are turning away from the faith than ever before: it is estimated that 75 to 88% of Christian teens walk away from Christianity by the end of their freshman year of college. Something must be done. Baucham equips Christian parents with the tools they need to raise children biblically in a post-Christian, anti-family society.

  3. Good thought, but I have read so many of these books in my 27 years of parenting….IF there were a “magic formula”, we would all know it. Even Adam rebelled….Eve was deceived, Adam just chose to disobey….I know that as a parent, you just have to be a husband and wife team who love the Lord, teach the precepts and Word to your children, love them, pray, and do what the Word says as you know it to be true. We are not off the hook as parents, and we are to be diligent, but really, it is up to each person of accountable age to either accept the Lord or reject Him.

  4. We often forget that youth have a hypocrisy meter that is very accurate. Only a little contamination ruins the flavor of the salt of the Gospel.

  6. Fairly good book. The chapter on Family Worship is excellent. A review of the book can be found at my blog linked above.

  7. Following the Biblical example parents should be the primary disciplers of their children rather than relying of the church to teach their kids. The problem is that too many parents are ill euipped to handle this task today. May this book offer a great resource for parents to fulfill their role and responsibilities.
