The Moon Found Stealing Glory from the Sun

A Tale of Pride and Humility

“What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why do you boast as though it were not a gift?” (1 Cor. 4:7)

Fool Moon Rising tells the tale of a crime of cosmic proportions: the moon, blinded by pride, fails to see the source of his abilities—the light provided by the sun. He boasts of his ability to shine, to change shape throughout the year, and to swell the sea. One day, overwhelmed by a piercing ray of sunshine, the moon repents of his pride and changes his ways. From that point on, he is happy to reflect the sun’s light.

See what other folks are saying about this fantastic children’s book:

9781433506826“The amazing illustrations captured the boys’ attention right away.” —From Girl Talk

“It reminds children to think of the One who gave them their gifts and talents, encouraging them to deflect praise and, instead, redirect it to the One who is most deserving of it.” —From Reading to Know

“Little kids would love the crazy, awesome pictures and the rhymes in this book…older kids however might relate to the important message.” —From The Daily Pretzel

“Fool Moon Rising is aimed at children 3-7 years old (although my 13-year-old and I both relished it!) I haven’t seen a children’s book before written along the theme of learning to boast only in God, and to give Him the glory for what we have and are.” —From Ministry-to-Children

You can learn more about this book on the Fool Moon Rising website or take a peak inside the book on Amazon.

Contentment: A Godly Woman’s Adornment on Trackback Thursday

9781581349580“Our unhappiness does not spring from what we lack. It springs from our desire for what we lack. We crave love, beauty, and comfort. We crave independence and peaceful surroundings. We crave self-esteem. We crave the smooth rhythm of a balanced life—a little of this, a bit of that, but not too much of either.” (pg 9)

This week’s Trackback Thursday title is Lydia Brownback’s Contentment: A Godly Woman’s Adornment. Lydia has designed this 30 day “on the go” devotional to assure women that contentment is not some ideal found in fleeting distractions, but rather it is a true and enduring satisfaction found in Christ.

“Good times are designed to come and go, but contentment is designed to be constant for all who are in Christ.” (pg 16)

Here’s a reminder of how Trackback Thursday works: Simply link to the blog post from your blog, leave a comment on Crossway’s Facebook Page, or re-tweet Trackback Thursday on Twitter @Crosswaybooks. Winners are picked on Friday morning.
