  1. looks amazing! i love the seamless navigation and reading.

one suggestion – after clicking a cross reference in the verse details page and seeing the cross reference, it would be nice to have a “back” button to take me back to the original verse.

    thanks crossway!

  2. I have Logos on my phone, and didn’t think I’d really “need” the ESV app… But the interface is beautiful! Very intuitive, and very handy for quick references during conversations and whatnot. I’ll be keeping it installed! Thanks, Crossway!

As an aside, I’ve yet to see a Subsplash-developed app I didn’t like. Those folks do great work!

  3. Very nice app. Text is clean and well formatted for reading. Some customization to allow muted verse numbers would be nice, but your choice is not bad. A little space above section headings would be nice, as they are in the printed ESV. But unlike the printed version, I like your choice of italics over bold text.

The book nav screen is beautiful. I love the gentle float right.

I agree with Matt: the first thing I did after navigating to a verse was click a cross reference, but then I couldn’t easily get back. OliveTree’s Bible Reader 4 has the best interaction design for this that I’ve seen, but I think you could do with a back button.

Thanks, Crossway, for this St Patrick’s Day gift!

  5. Hallelujah! This is the first app I looked for when I bought my Ipod touch in January. I had the faith and it is finally here!

  6. I was looking today at a Nook e-reader. Kind of out of the budget at present but the main thought I had was: I wonder if ESV is available in a format usable on Nook? Does anyone know if it is now? Or if it is planned for the future? Thanks.

  7. It would be great to get it on Palm WebOS as well. As far as I know there is no app at all for the ESV on WebOS! I’ve been stuck using the mobile esv.org site, which isn’t too horrible until I’m in one of the very few places where I don’t get a signal :-(

  8. And for the Droid?

  9. This is really great. I’ve been waiting for an ESV iPhone app that didn’t require a network connection, and this really fits the bill! The one thing that would be nice would be the ability to go to a reference from the search bar.

Overall, I’m very grateful for the work you put into this!

  11. Absolutely incredible app guys. Thank you so much. It’s a joy to use.

My only question is, when viewing the references of a verse, what is the differences between other verses in brackets [] and why some we are told to “See ___” and others are just noted?

Just looking for some clarity…perhaps this has eluded me while reading my “real” Bible!

  12. This is a great app–I’ve been using it to read the passage for this Sunday’s message when I’m stuck in a line. Well done!

Oh, and the design is great, too!

  13. The interface is slick and not needing an internet connection is a time / life-saver. However, the search function seems quite different than using the web version. When searching for two words, my results show all passages with either word – not just passages with both words (even when I tried adding “and”). Until it searches the same way the web version does, I’ll still use the web version more.

  15. Clean, pretty, and highly usable. Searches are impossibly fast. Notes, favorites, footnotes, cross references. Thank you, Crossway, for providing an excellent translation in wonderful iPhone app!
