Organization as a Homeschooler

Check out what reviewers are saying about Vicki Caruana’s The Organized Homeschooler.

  • “Though there are days the above title can feel like an oxymoron, there is hope. In this inspiring book by Vicki Caruana help abounds. Each chapter is a mix of encouragement and checklists to order your life and school while building off the solid foundation of God’s Word.”-Growing Grass.
  • “This is a wonderfully insightful book. Rather than just simply a “how-to” book of organization it challenges the reader to make a heart change and mind change.” -Abbie Reviews
  • “This is almost like a Bible study for home schooling moms who need a bit more motivation for organizing.  With steps to go through at the end of each chapter covering the heart, mind and body and including Scripture all along the way.” -Growing for Christ
  • “[Caruana] spends time on why to organize and then how to organize. My toes were stepped on more than once, but in a good way. Every chapter ends with boxes to check off relating to heart matters, mind matters, and body matters.” -Abundant Blessings.
  • “I was at awe at the way Vicki presented her helpful advice. The book is written in conversational tone. Vicki shares what works for her family but that was not the point of her writing this book.  Her purpose was not to get you to do what she does the way she does it.  She encourages you to find out what will work for you.”-Cross Rhodes Academy.
  • “The scope of  The Organized Home Schooler is quite wide. I enjoyed reading it, and picked up some good ideas for storing finished schoolwork, organizing my family, and storing (or eliminating) “stuff.”  The book is effective at motivating the reader to organize in addition to providing practical ideas.”-Debbie’s Homeschool Corner.
  • “Each chapter covers a different organization topic such organizing your thoughts, organizing your time, organizing your space, and so on.  Ideas are given for each of the topics to help you get your wheels turning on how to implement the new organizational system into your own home.” -Marine Corps Nomads

Free eBook: “The Sword”

Have you heard of the Chiveis Trilogy? Author Bryan Litfin’s speculative fiction is set hundreds of years in the future, after war and disease have destroyed civilization as we know it. Slowly, the few survivors are building new communities, and kingdoms now prosper in a kind of feudal order. But the Word of God has been lost for centuries.

Nestled in the mountains of what is modern day Switzerland, the kingdom of Chiveis lies comfortably protected from the dangerous world surrounding it. But when an encounter between Teo, an army scout, and Ana, a farmer’s daughter, leads to the accidental discovery of an ancient manuscript, life starts to change. Teo and Ana learn of Deu, the God described in their incomplete text, as their pagan beliefs give way to new faith. Fighting to know truth and to find the missing testament of the Bible, Teo and Ana realize an ancient enemy is working against them. But how does this force know about the existence of the Scriptures? And why is it so intent on pursuing their every step? Follow Teo and Ana as their journey leads them through trials and adventures into the unknown.

SPECIAL OFFER: We’re looking forward to the release of the second book in the series, The Gift, in April! But first we want to make sure you have the opportunity to read The Sword. You can peruse the book below or download the full eBook from Amazon or the iBookstore for a limited time.

Refo500

As a publisher of books in the tradition of the Protestant Reformation, Crossway reveled two years ago in the 500th anniversary of John Calvin’s birth. We now look forward to celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation itself.

Herman Selderhuis, a Reformation scholar from the Netherlands, has organized an international effort called Refo500, and Crossway has signed on as a partner in this effort. Universities, publishers, and a variety of institutions in Europe and America are participating, each in its own way. Among other things being planned by Refo500 and its many partners are conferences, seminars, exhibitions, concerts, historic tours, and publications.

In only two years, for example, events will mark the 450th anniversary of the Heidelberg Catechism, a classic loved by all Reformed believers, but especially by those in the Dutch Reformed tradition.

Stay tuned for more news concerning Refo500 as it builds to a climax in 2017, the anniversary of Martin Luther’s nailing of his Ninety-five Theses to the church door in Wittenberg.

For a quick refresher course, meanwhile, check out Stephen Nichols’s book The Reformation: How a Monk and a Mallet Changed the World (Crossway, 2009). To keep up with Refo500, visit its website at www.refo500.com.
