We’re pleased to announce The Explicit Gospel Tour: An Evening with Matt Chandler and Worship by Shane and Shane. In conjunction with the release of Chandler’s debut book, The Explicit Gospel, he will tour along with Shane and Shane to seven locations on the eastern seaboard from April 16-21, 2012.
Most Americans recognize the name of Jesus. Less than most go to church. And even less have heard the gospel explicitly. Matt Chandler recognizes the problem and points out that most “Christians” mistakenly believe that Christianity is ultimately about being good and avoiding bad. And so the good news of the gospel—not just to save, but to transform—is hidden, or at worst, lost.
As lead pastor of The Village Church, a congregation of over 10,000 people in Dallas, Texas, Chandler writes to respond to the countless testimonies of those who grew up in the church, but never understood the gospel.
In a climate where the gospel tends to be largely assumed, neglected, or undefined—Chandler seeks to do justice to the earth-shaking pronouncement that God has a redemptive plan in Jesus that is not dependent on our behavior. It’s both a personal plan of love, sacrifice, grace, and eternal life for sinners as well as a big picture redemptive plan in which a supreme Christ is making all things new.
