Good News Publishers and American Tract Society Finalize Joint Publishing Agreement

We are announcing some important news today!

As you may know, Crossway is a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. On September 1st, Good News Publishers and the American Tract Society (ATS) entered into a joint publishing agreement for the publication and distribution of gospel tracts throughout North America.

Good News and ATS have proclaimed the gospel for a combined total of 261 years. ATS, a pioneer of tract ministry, was founded in 1825 as a result of the growing need for gospel resources following the second Great Awakening. Good News began publishing tracts in 1938 in the wake of the Great Depression, growing into a ministry that now distributes over 16 million tracts annually.

ATS board chair, Bob Wudeck, said:

“We are very thankful for the Good News tract ministry, and now for this new ‘partnership in the gospel’ (Phil. 1:5). After considering this carefully over the last six months, it is a delight now to see how the Lord has lead the ATS board and the Good News board together in making this decision.”

Dr. Lane Dennis, chair of the Good News board, commented:

“I have a great appreciation for ATS, and it is a real honor now for Good News to carry forward the historic ATS ministry. We are convinced of the significant, ongoing role of the Good News tract ministry, as an important means of proclaiming the gospel. We are grateful indeed to many of our Crossway authors—John Piper, Max Lucado, John MacArthur, and Kevin DeYoung, to mention only a few—who have written excellent Good News tracts. We pray now that the Lord will continue to bless this combined ministry in a tremendous way, for the sake of the gospel and for His glory.”

  1. I THINK YOU GUYS CAME UP WITH AN OUTSTANDING IDEA, I WAS LOOKING FOWARD TO THIS SINCE I USED TO ORDER THE CARTOON GOSPEL TRACTS FROM AMERICAN TRACT SOCIETY AND GOOD NEWS AND CROSSWAY. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR MINISTRY AMEN..

  2. Halloween is a satanic holy-day. As a Christian we should flee from even the APPEARANCE of evil. I am shocked that Halloween tracts are being printed and sold by Crossway. If you MUST do something “seasonal” as you call it, use a SEASON. Autumn or Fall would be just as colorful on the front of a tract. Us a pumpkin, but leave of Jack’s face and it will be just as sweet.

  3. about two or three months ago, i submitted a copy of a tract i had written entitled…”Why Persevere”??…talked to someone on your staff, and they said they received it, but a decision whether or not your company would agree to put into publication would not be made until sometime this month…so it is now about that time, and I am just inquiring the status on this???..could you send me some information on this…I am hoping and praying it can be published..for it is my testimony, and I know it would help the body of Christ…Bob

  4. I can’t remember a time where I was more disappointed. Where are all of the many ATS tracts that I have come to rely on for leading others to Christ? This merger is not good news to me. This was a very bad decision.

  5. BETH:1st of all as a christian,{child of god’s} I AGREE WITH you,{surely they can come with a pretty fall scene on the front or picture of a fall celebration},one thing i don’t agree with is satanic as a holy-day,{to me just does not sound right or go together},JESUS our SAVIOR & LORD is HOLY,& TO me that’s like calling evil good,& ALSO:this is why i get upset when some one says “HOLY COW”,when i hear it,i am like {i say},in frustration, GOD is HOLY !!! & he is not no “COW”!!!, “of course i am sure you don’t mean to do that” & “i am sure you would not do that”,. GOD BLESS YOU BETH,YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEK,DEB.10-2012 4:23pm

  6. I would have to agree with Chris. Where have all the wonderful tracts gone? How can this be a good merger? Apparently it was good for ATS. Sorry to see so many excellent tracts are now gone.

  7. I agree with Chris. Sorry to see so many of the wonderful tracts gone. The merger may have been good for you but it is definitely not good for your customers. Sad, sad!

  8. As a user of ATS tracts since 1969, I’m glad ATS didn’t simply stop publishing tracts! Instead, they went to Good News and ASKED them to take their tract line in order to keep it going! I don’t know of another tract publisher with the integrity and willingness that Good News has shown in taking on such a sizable challenge. In fact, I’m amazed that they already have 63 ATS titles in print since September 1st! Outstanding! I’m grateful for Good News!

  9. I am trying to purchase a tract originally offered by the American Tract
Society and leaned it just merged with Good News Publishers…
The tract name is: How To Be Born Again and its reference # is A27
    can you assist me please?

    Thank You…Lynn

  10. P.S. Also, can you provide me a contact phone number that I may call
    the sales office?

    Thank you, Lynn

    Comment by Lynn Koukal — November 2, 2012 @ 2:32 pm

  11. Yes, Lynn…that’s an excellent tract. It isn’t in the first “batch” of 63 ATS tracts, but hopefully it will be published in 2013 as Good News is able to print more ATS tracts. The sales number at Good News/ATS is 877.872.2871, by the way.

  12. I know you are just getting started but I find your web site difficult to use and not intuitive. I am here to order more ATS multi language tracts, esp. Chinese at this time. This is my first exposure to your new website and I’m not excited – it needs some pazzazz! I’m disappointed at the “search” feature. Your web master needs to use another database/field. ATS was superior to none with its line of tracts. Hope your’s gets better.

    Comment by Jim — November 2, 2012 @ 6:54 pm

  13. I always order cartoon gospel tracts from good news and crossway and also from ATS. ATS discontinued several cartoon gospel tracts. I was wondering if it would be possible for you guys to come up with – WHERE WILL YOU SPEND ETERNITY?-cartoon tract. Also THEN WHAT?!!(IN SPANISH) – AND ALSO -THE LIGHT- CARTOON TRACT (IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH)…{Ron Wheeler is the auther} cartoon gospel tracts are read more often by people regarding the age. Gospel tracts are great, But colorful cartoon gospel tracts are way better, it’s easier to understand, it catches the readers’ atention. God bless this ministry.

  14. Oh how sad I am to find one of my favorite Christmas tracts no longer offered. Please please bring it back. It was a great one to give at the malls. I could strick a good conversation with this one during this time…

    A Peaceful Christmas

Also, I was wondering if you will be producing Patriot tracts for America returning to God. I am studying the 1599 Geneva Bible – Patriot’s Edition and now I need tracts to go with this. During these times we do need to turn back to God.

    Thanks so very much!

    Comment by Veronica S. — November 14, 2012 @ 9:30 pm

  15. Hey, Veronica!

There are several new and redesigned tracts coming out this Christmas (right now). Check the website (goodnewstracts.org) and the new Christmas titles should show up on that opening page under the “New” tab. And there are several more available from the ATS line at GNP.

You can read the patriotic tracts online to see if one of them would say what you’re looking for.

  16. Doug, You are missing the point… there are none like “A Peaceful Christmas”. I have looked and just don’t see any that work the same way. Can you tell me why it isn’t being printed anymore. I know it was a very popular one. I could buy from Amazon but for the 25 they want $15…

    Comment by Veronica S. — November 16, 2012 @ 9:22 am

  17. Unfortunately, Veronica, the demand for “A Peaceful Christmas” was too low to keep it in print. Perhaps it will be reconsidered for future re-publication.
