Editor, Book Division

Reports To: Director of Editorial, Book Division

Overview: This book editor will serve Crossway’s publishing ministry by managing the editorial process for various book projects through the editing, typesetting, and proofreading stages. He or she will strive to ensure excellence of content, beauty of expression, and theological faithfulness. The editor will work under and closely with the director of editorial and collaborate with the rest of the Book Division team (including the acquisitions and production staffs) and other Crossway colleagues as needed.

Context of Hiring Need: God has blessed Crossway with a small but gifted and industrious staff of editors who handle an enormous output of books each year. The new editor will strengthen Crossway’s ability to publish books that exhibit excellence in content, style, and doctrine, and will lay the groundwork for potential expansion of Crossway’s book line in the future.


  1. Editing 12–15 books per calendar year for content, style, and doctrine
  2. Interacting with typesetters to provide all that they need to do their jobs effectively
  3. Engaging and overseeing the work of freelance proofreaders and indexers for book projects
  4. Working through projects in an efficient, timely manner
  5. Meeting regularly with supervisor and others to discuss project issues
  6. Other editorial needs that arise

Qualifications and Experience Required: College degree in Bible, theology, philosophy, journalism, English, or a related field. Extensive editing experience in a professional context, including some editing of book-length manuscripts. Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style. Detail oriented, able to focus, clear in communication, and well organized. In full sympathy with Crossway’s mission of “Gospel-Centered Publishing” and with the ESV as a translation. Master’s degree in biblical or theological studies and familiarity with biblical languages desirable.

Theological Persuasion Required: Candidate must gladly adhere to robust evangelical theology in the historic stream of the Reformation—that is, broadly Reformed in line with the doctrinal DNA of Crossway’s publishing ministry. The candidate must subscribe to inerrancy as defined in the Lausanne Statement and to a vision of Christian living that holds high the gospel of grace for all of life.

Personal Qualities: A genuine faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and active membership in a local church. A love for God’s Word and his church. Affinity for reading and for words. Pleasing personal demeanor with a willing, servant’s heart. Team orientation. Strong work ethic. Ability to receive critical feedback. Strong diplomatic skills for interactions with authors.

Coordinator, Advancement and Bible Ministries

Reports To: (Organizationally) Senior VP, Bible Ministry Relations; (functionally) Executive Director, Communications and Advancement and Bible Ministries Manager

General Responsibilities: To provide professional and personable support to the Advancement and Bible Ministries leadership, primarily in-house but also in the field, as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative Support for Department Leadership
    • Provide general support for Senior VP of Bible Ministry Relations, Executive Director of Communications and Advancement, and Bible Ministries Manager.
  2. Database Management and Research
    • Enter and maintain detailed records in eTapestry, Acumen, and spreadsheets.
    • Research and prepare lists of potential donors and church ministry contacts.
    • Perform analytics on donations and contacts and prepare progress reports.
    • Process donations and follow-up correspondence.
    • Coordinate with other Crossway departments (IT, finance, etc.).
    • Master information about the ESV Bible, Crossway’s ministry, and Crossway Global Resources in order to be able to communicate it effectively to others.
  3. Writing/Communication
    • Write initial drafts of donor emails, letters, proposals, blog posts, e-newsletters, and other communications.
    • Coordinate with marketing and design related to social media, video, website, blogs, and newsletters.
    • Prepare Keynote or PowerPoint presentations, as needed.
  4. Meeting and Event Support and Logistics
    • Coordinate travel for events, customer visits and meetings, as assigned.
    • Prepare and send out donor packets, proposals and church kits in advance of calls.
    • Manage the shipment of materials for off-site events and meetings, and the shipment of follow-up materials afterward.
    • Occasionally represent Crossway at events or accompany managers on visits, as assigned.
  5. Follow Up
    • Promptly prepare and send all donor receipts, thank you letters, samples, church kits, and other correspondence.
    • Follow up on order inquiries from churches and write orders.
    • Manage the details of appeal mailings, e-mailings, and online appeals.
    • Coordinate with other key personnel at Crossway to receive necessary information and support, including IT, sales and marketing, Bible publishing, and fulfillment.
  6. Other Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Required: Strong organizational and administrative abilities, experience, energy, and persistence. Professionalism and personality to be able to represent Crossway in public and with customers and donors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency and efficiency in basic business technologies and the ability to learn new systems. Pleasing personal demeanor with a willing, positive attitude. Proven ability to manage projects and events, to assume responsibility, and to initiate projects as assigned.

Strong commitment to Crossway ministry and ESV Bible vision. A college degree (B.S. or B.A). Related work experience with at least two years preferred. A love for God’s Word and His church. Commitment to an evangelical understanding of the Bible, the gospel, and Christian doctrine. A genuine faith in Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savior, and active participation in a local church.

Marketing Coordinator (Online/Digital)

Reports To: Executive Director, Marketing

Description of Position: Serves Crossway’s publishing ministry with an emphasis in online and digital marketing. Works closely with the entire Creative Division and Marketing in particular. Includes weekly reporting on the below responsibilities.


  1. Coordinating Crossway’s online marketing projects
  2. Coordinating Crossway.org and ESVBible.org promotional content
  3. Working with team to develop web content strategy for Crossway.org and ESVBible.org
  4. Collaborating with stakeholders on creative planning for our online platforms
  5. Implementing promotional plans for Crossway.org, collaborating closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Fulfillment
  6. Drafting related project proposals as directed
  7. Gathering market research as directed
  8. Analyzing website analytics and making adjustments to increase effectiveness
  9. Reporting on key performance indicators in the above areas
  10. Managing assigned budget

Qualifications and Experience Required: Candidate must possess excellent project management and organizational skills. Minimum two years of experience in marketing, communications, and/or web development is preferred. Bachelors Degree is required and in a related field is preferred.

Warehouse Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Description of Position: We're looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented person to supervise our 2nd shift warehouse activities. You will play a vital role in the success of the warehouse department and Crossway. As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will develop a deep understanding of warehouse responsibilities and assess and initiate opportunities for improvement.

General Responsibilities: To effectively supervise the P.M. shift, as well as fulfilling directives given by Management.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. To effectively supervise, and keep on task all staff on the p.m. shift employees
  2. Picking warehouse orders
  3. Putting pallets of inventory away in the warehouse
  4. Putting away re-boxed to returns
  5. Restocking flow racks
  6. Shrink wrapping books, re-boxing returns and make book sets when needed
  7. Load LTL deliveries onto trailer and UPS truck (if needed)
