God’s Great Mercy

Lane Dennis, my father and President of Good News Publishers, has made prayer one of the primary focuses for our ministry this year, particularly the familiar words of Philippians 4:6-7. “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

These verses do not say that if I pray, God will give me whatever I ask for or that God will work out my circumstances just the way I want Him to. Philippians 4:6-7 tells me I can bring my requests before the Creator of the universe and trust that He will answer my requests in accordance with His perfect will. Chiang Kai-shek wrote, “I used to pray that God would do this or that. Now I pray that God would make His will known to me.” There is wisdom in these simple words.

Prayer puts me in proper position before God, a position of complete and utter dependence! Prayer brings peace to my troubled heart in a way that nothing else in this world can. The great Puritan John Bunyan described prayer as “a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the soul to God, through Christ in the strength and assistance of the Spirit, for such things as God has promised.” May we be a people of powerful, life-changing prayer!

Changed Lives

Each month we receive many letters from people whose lives have been changed through the tracts you have given. We hope you will be encouraged by these letters.

Dear Good News Publishers,
I am six years old. My Mom just read me the story The Boy Who Lost His Boat. I would like more information about Jesus. Can you send it to me?

Thank you, Derek
