Thy Word . . .
“ . . . is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105, KJV). I have drawn much encouragement from this verse recently as I have been confronted with an often overwhelming myriad of decisions at work and at home. It is my prayer that you will find this verse to be comforting as well.
As we daily commune with God in His Word, He has promised to guide each of our steps as we travel the often rocky path of life. A lamp illumines the path for several steps in front and behind us, but doesn’t reveal what is on the horizon. In the same way, the Holy Spirit gently guides us, often without our being aware of His immediate presence. So when we are confronted with a big decision, like a job change, major surgery, or purchasing a home, God is faithful and will guide us as we seek to glorify Him with each decision. God also promises to guide us in the dozens of seemingly insignificant decisions we face each day. As we commune with our heavenly Father in His Word, faithfully seeking to honor Him, we can trust that He will direct our steps and give understanding in the midst of our circumstances.
Are you facing a difficult decision right now? Do you struggle with the multitude of decisions you face? Seek God in His Word each day, ask Him for wisdom from above (James 1:5-8), and enjoy God’s peace as He gently directs your steps.
