John Piper’s “Bloodlines” Named an Outreach Magazine Resource of the Year

Wheaton, IL (February 23, 2012)—Crossway is pleased to announce that John Piper’s Bloodlines: Race, Cross, and the Christian has been named Outreach Magazine’s resource of the year in the category of Cross-Cultural Ministry.

Bloodlines is one of twenty resources to receive recognition out of 170 books published between November 2010 and October 2011. According to Outreach Magazine, the annual Outreach Resources of the Year feature celebrates the best outreach-oriented books and curricula in areas of evangelism, compassion and justice ministries, missional living and cross-cultural ministries.

In Bloodlines, Piper confesses the racism of his youth and makes a plea for authentic reconciliation in Christ. Racism continues to be an urgent issue that perpetuates brokenness in the educational, political, social, and even evangelical climate of the United States.

He writes with urgency and a deep longing for racial harmony. Though many strategies have been put forward to combat racism—none have been effective enough in eradicating it. The good news is that racial justice and reconciliation are possible. The good news of the gospel is that all bloodlines come together in the bloodline of Christ.
