Video: Crazy Busy in Chicago

Lots of people are crazy busy. And Chicagoans are no exception.

Crazy Busy FlyerThat’s why a team of Crossway employees headed down to Chitown two days ago with the real-life icon from the cover of Kevin DeYoung’s most recent book, Crazy Busy: A (Mercifully) Short Book about a (Really) Big Problem.

That’s right, our bold and daring coworker, Kevin Lipp, courageously donned a black leotard and a giant exclamation point head for the sake of the cause.

Standing outside Ogilvie Transportation Center, we said good morning to hundreds of sleepy commuters while handing out high-fives, corny jokes, and Starbucks VIA packets to those who were too busy to stop for coffee.

Experience the joy of free coffee and a guy in a funny suit in the short video below:

Delighting in the Law of the Lord: God’s Alternative to Legalism and Moralism
By Jerram Barrs

Do You Love God’s Law?

Our culture tells us to do our own thing and follow our own rules—a message which often makes the Bible seem oppressively restrictive and hopelessly outdated! Looking at both the Old and New Testaments, professor Jerram Barrs shows us how God’s commands were intended to protect us from sin and direct us in godliness—resulting in healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives for all of God’s people.

“In his across-the-kitchen-table style, Barrs explains why we need to retrieve afresh one of God’s greatest gifts. Churches will love this resource!”

The Gospel Transformation Bible As Sermon, Not Lecture

The following from Dane Ortlund, Crossway’s Senior Vice President of Bible Publishing, is perhaps the best description of the Gospel Transformation Bible:

If other study Bibles perform the function of a lecture, the Gospel Transformation Bible is a sermon—not a “Do better!” sermon but rather a sermon that helps believers see how Christ is the point of the whole Bible, passage by passage. No other study Bible is intended to give believers a grace “lens” for reading the entire Bible. So while the notes of the Gospel Transformation Bible do a specific thing—highlight God’s redemptive purposes unfolding through history—the notes are not for a certain niche but for everyone, because everyone is a sinner in need of grace. In essence, our hope is for the Gospel Transformation Bible to help people unlearn the various wrong ways of reading the Bible that burden and deaden. We want to help people see the life-giving nature of the Word of God as a word of grace.
