Common Lies Young Girls Believe About Beauty
God’s Word Is True
It is so easy for girls—young or old—to believe worldly lies about beauty. The world will tell us that our beauty is found in the way that we look, and we better look a certain way. The world will tell us that our greatness is found in what we can achieve. And the world will tell us to rely on people and their affirmation for our self-worth.
What Makes You Beautiful
Kristen Wetherell
This devotional, written for girls ages 9–12, explores the theme of beauty to help young readers appreciate the beauty of God, and in turn, become more beautiful themselves.
God’s Word tells us quite the opposite of those things. It’s good news that we can open Scripture and hear God speak to us and hear his voice over the voice of the world. But we need to know that our outer selves are fading away, while our inner selves in Christ are being renewed day by day. We need to know that our greatness isn’t found in our potential or what we can achieve, but in what Jesus has already achieved for us. We need to know that God’s opinion, not people’s opinions, matters most.
And where do we find all of that? Where do we find a voice that is more sure and that is louder than all the voices of this world? It’s in God’s truth, and so that’s where we need to steep ourselves.
