ESV.org—How to Highlight and Favorite a Passage

This article is part of the ESV.org Tutorial series.

Highlight Key Passages

Did you know that you can highlight and favorite passages of your digital Bible using the features on ESV.org, making it easy to return to verses or sections that you’re using for study, memorization, or devotion?

After creating a free account, simply navigate to a particular book or verse and use your cursor to highlight a section of Scripture. A menu of six icons should appear. Select the pencil icon in the middle of the top row. Then, select one of the three available colors (blue, gold, or red) to mark the particular passage you want to highlight.

The same process works to “favorite” a verse or passage of Scripture using the heart icon, located in the third spot on the top row of the icon menu.

When you desire to revisit your highlighted or favorited passages, click on the person icon in the top, right hand corner of your screen and scroll down to the “Favorites” or “Highlights” section to see what you’ve selected for each. From these screens, you’ll be able to sort by section of the Bible or delete previous selections.
