Shh! There's a secret that only a few know. When nobody is around, the toy world springs to life! And things are no different in Mr. Giovanni's Toy Shop.
Jenny's the newest doll in the shop, and she's so excited about playing with her new friends that she can barely wait for Mr. Giovanni to leave. But the other dolls only want to talk about the other toys--like how frumpy and old Rabbie the rabbit is. So Jenny goes in search of a real friend. But it seems like none of the other toys want a friend either--at least not one who doesn't look or act just like them.
Except Rabbie. He'd love to make a new friend, if only Jenny can see behind his shabbiness and droopy ear into his big heart.
Can you remember when you first met your friends? Did you like them right away? Or did you think they were a little unusual at first? Jesus was always making friends with people who were different. And lots of people thought He was different! But Jesus knew that because people come in all colors, shapes, and sizes, so do friends!
Friends laugh at your silliest jokes, put up with you on bad days, and go along with your craziest ideas. They like you because of who you are on the inside, not what you look like on the outside. That's because friendship is all about the heart.
And you know what? There's always room in your heart for one more friend. So the next time someone offers to be your friend or you see someone who might need a friend, remember that it doesn't matter whether he's tall or short, she's fat or skinny, or the clothes are new or old. We need to love that person just like Jesus would!
