Marcus couldn't remember a time when his chains did not rub his wrists and ankles raw. And yet one day a messenger stood before him with good news. News he couldn't believe: "The truth will set you free." Marcus didn't understand how, but with simple faith he followed and the chains were broken. The messenger guided Marcus to his new home and introduced him to the king who had set them free.

Yet after Marcus had enjoyed the bounties of his new life, he wondered what was happening at his old home. After slipping back there, he is quickly ordered by his old master to put his chains back on. Will he remember the truth that set him free and know that the chains hold no power?

Originally published in the bestseller Tell Me the Truth, this beautifully written and illustrated tale shares an inspiring parable that both children and adults will be moved by.
